Goldsmiths all over the world have always strived to develop jewellery clasps that are easy to open and secure when closed. Using flexible gold, Wellendorff has succeeded in producing an 18-karat gold bracelet that doesn’t even require a clasp.

The main challenge facing the Wellendorff goldsmiths was crafting the bracelet in such a way that it delicately returns to its original shape each time it is put on and taken off. Exceeding the physical limits of 18-karat gold’s elasticity is akin to a technical miracle. But after a long development period, the solution was discovered: the gold rope’s interior – its core – was redesigned to ensure it remained flexible and at the same time highly resilient.
