The special Wellendorff jewellery-making exhibition at the renowned Pforzheim Jewellery Museum bears the enticing title “The Secret of Luxury – The Art of Jewellery-Making by Wellendorff.” Can an exhibition answer this question, or will the secret always remain so? The answer to this can only be found by visiting this unique exhibition, which invites visitors to the famous golden city of Pforzheim renowned for its jewellery-making tradition from 5 July to 29 September.
Pforzheim, in the heart of southern Germany, is known by connoisseurs as the “home of jewellery and gold.” It is hardly surprising, then, that it is home to the only museum in the world centred exclusively around jewellery. The Pforzheim Jewellery Museum documents the history of jewellery-making with over 2,000 exhibits spanning five centuries - from antiquity to modern times. The current special exhibition showcases Wellendorff’s exclusive jewellery-making, a first for the museum.
The world’s longest version of a Wellendorff icon lies at the centre of the exhibition in a 19-metre-long display case: the classic rope, which visitors are able to see and even feel for themselves.
This is the first and only exhibition curated by Wellendorff customers. High-quality individual pieces and their personal stories are displayed, including a piece of jewellery that has found its way to Pforzheim from the Japanese imperial family. The loaned pieces not only show off the manufactory’s exceptional craftsmanship, but also the individual emotions that are entwined with these pieces and embody the philosophy of the brand: FROM LOVE. THE BEST.
The unique opportunity to discover the manufactory’s unique masterpieces and their personal histories is so important to the Wellendorff family that all Wellendorff customers are invited to visit the exhibition and explore the manufactory’s unique journey for free.
